MINNETONKA, MINN.—Radisson will be the first hotel brand in the Americas to provide its guests with a new line of linens made from eucalyptus. The trees used to produce the new linen line are grown in Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) forests, an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Using a new fabric called Tencel+Plus Lyocell from Valley Forge Fabrics, the new linens support the brand’s commitment to responsible business.

With this decision, guests will enjoy the benefits of the new linens including: moisture management, natural thermo regulation, reduced bacteria growth, and smoothness for sensitive skin.

Tencel+Plus Lyocell is made from a blend of eucalyptus and cotton. The sheets dry up to 29 percent faster than traditional cotton, which provides significant energy savings. Therefore, sheets stay softer, longer, without the additional use of softeners. This reduces the introduction of additional chemicals into the waste stream and saves water by eliminating an additional rinse cycle.

The new bed linen, with a 310 thread count, and duvet line will roll out this summer. The duvet will be required for all hotels. The linens will be required for all upper upscale Radisson Blu Hotels opening in the Americas and is recommended as a new bedding option for all upscale Radisson hotels in the region. Radisson hotels in the Americas will begin to order the linens and duvets on March 31, 2011.
