NEW YORK—Protect-A-Bed Featured its Box Spring Plus Box Spring Encasement at HX: The Hotel Experience. The product fully encases the box spring and features a BugLock, three-sided zipper and AllerZip seal to provide total protection against dust mites, allergens and bedbugs. Protect-A-Bed also showcased its AllerZip Smooth line, a best-in-class mattress encasement that helps hoteliers stand out to those potential and returning guests who suffer from chronic allergies.

“A typical guest spends 40 percent of their stay in bed,” says Sandra DiVito, Vice President of Hospitality at Protect-A-Bed. “They are actively seeking hotels that address sleep quality—everything from special mattresses, pillow menus, high-thread count linens—and a focus on waterproof mattress and pillow protection.”

According to DiVito, in addition to keeping mattresses dry, hygienic, anti-allergy and bedbug-free, Protect-A-Bed products also help hotels reach sustainability objectives while minimizing housekeeping labor, water and chemical costs.

“Be it allergy issues or hygiene requirements, hotel guests are becoming increasingly concerned about their quality of sleep while traveling,” DiVito says. “Hoteliers who understand and meet these needs by protecting mattresses and pillows can gain and retain guests while saving hotel resources.”

Liquid, Fluid Stain Prevention

Protect-A-Bed featured its cost-saving, customer service benefits associated with bedding protection. Products like BugLock Plus and AllerZip Smooth mattress and pillow protectors are waterproof and prevent stains from liquids and bodily fluids that could ruin a mattress or inhibit a mattress warranty’s claim.

“The first time a mattress is protected from a human accident or careless behavior, the encasement has paid for itself,” DiVito said. “Encasements and protectors can also lower housekeeping costs, reducing labor, water and chemical needs.”

According to DiVito, wellness-savvy guests—especially millennials—are more aware of a hotel’s room hygiene than ever before. “By using mattress protection, hoteliers can offer guests a top quality healthy sleep environment, free from liquid damage including spills or bodily fluids,” she says. “Encasements also prevent allergens like dust, dust mites, dead skin and mold. And guests get what they want—a clean mattress providing wellness while sleeping.”

The AllerZip Smooth mattress and pillow encasements are also the first waterproof bedding encasement products to earn asthma & allergy friendly certification from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). This certification ensures hoteliers are providing the highest standard of hygiene available for their guests.
