OAKLAND, CALIF.—Green Venue Report, a leading group of event industry professionals committed to the advancement of venue sustainability, announces the launch of the second annual survey to compare sustainability practices and performance across convention and exhibition centers worldwide. Venues are invited to participate in the multi-question survey at no cost beginning April 1 at www.greenvenuereport.com.

The 2015 Green Venue Report will offer these results in a comprehensive overview of convention centers around the world, building on the participation and momentum of the 2014 report. The report compares green performance over a wide range of areas, including: energy efficiency, waste management, water usage, food and beverage services, cleaning practices, staff involvement, communications and certifications.

The report, to be published September 2015, will compile information from more than 30 participating convention and exhibition centers around the world. The 2014 report compiled data from 16 centers in North America, representing over 4,000 events, 12 million attendees and 28.5 million square feet of venue space.

From the perspective of an event coordinator, venues often are their most influential event partner and greatly influence the sustainability performance of their events. The venue provides event coordinators with a foundation that either helps or hinders sustainability. Embracing sustainability can lead to many benefits to the venue and coordinator, including increased efficiencies (and potentially associated cost savings), more engaged staff, satisfied customers and a competitive green distinction within the industry.

By collecting and comparing performance data and identifying innovative practices, venues can see how they perform against their peers and the industry can better understand its aggregate impact, progress, best practices and innovations. With growing participation, the Green Venue Survey and Report will continue to provide this critical analysis, as well as the tools and best practices documentation.

The Green Venue Report is a collaboration between Greenview and Twirl Management, two leading firms in the events and meetings industry promoting sustainable practices. The project is sponsored by Covanta, Bandwagon, Freeman and United Service Companies. For more information visit www.greenvenuereport.com.
