SPOKANE, WASH.—Ecova, the energy and sustainability management company, announced that it has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the 2015 Energy Star Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award. This marks the 11th consecutive year that Ecova has received an award for continued leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. Ecova’s accomplishments will be recognized in Washington, D.C. on April 20, 2015.

Ecova benchmarks energy performance for more buildings in Energy Star’s Portfolio Manager than any other service provider—nearly 70,000 each month. Additionally, as an Energy Star partner since 2005, Ecova is in an elite group of companies that have been recognized by the EPA with at least 10 Energy Star awards.

Ecova’s energy benchmarking and regulatory reporting capabilities help its clients maintain compliance with various city and state regulations. “With over 2,200 locations across the United States and limited internal resources, it’s challenging for us to stay up to date on the numerous energy reporting regulations,” said Alan Grossman, Chief Financial Officer of Operations at Public Storage. “Ecova has been helping us maintain city and state compliance for years, making sure that we report energy consumption for our buildings that meet the minimum size in regulatory areas, avoiding substantial penalties and fees.”

A Highly Valued Partnership

“Ecova truly values our partnership with Energy Star,” said Jana Schmidt, President and CEO of Ecova. “It’s exciting to see the impact we’ve made through our energy benchmarking and regulatory reporting services as well as the great research into energy efficient appliances we’ve conducted, and we remain committed to continuing our work to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment.”

Since its inception in 1992, Energy Star and its partners have helped prevent a total of more than two billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2013 alone, Energy Star and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefit due to reducing damages from climate change.

“Through their sustained participation with Energy Star, Ecova is helping Americans save money, save energy, and do their part to reduce our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions that fuel climate change,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “I applaud Ecova for earning EPA’s highest Energy Star award, the 2015 Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award, demonstrating a strong commitment to energy efficiency and to preserving a healthy planet for future generations.”

The 2015 Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Awards are given to a variety of organizations to recognize their contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through superior energy efficiency achievements. These winners have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by setting and achieving aggressive goals and employing innovative energy efficiency approaches. The awards recognize ongoing leadership across the Energy Star program, including energy-efficient products, services, new homes, and buildings in the commercial, industrial, and public sectors.
