BOSTON—enVerid Systems, Inc. announced that BUILDINGS magazine has selected its HVAC Load Reduction (HLR) 1000E technology as a 2017 Money-Saving Product winner. The finalists were evaluated by the BUILDINGS editorial staff for the money-saving qualities they offer to building owners and facility managers in areas such as energy efficiency, water savings, and maintenance. enVerid’s technology is a part of an elite group of 13 products selected in the “HVAC Boosters” category in the June 2017 issue of BUILDINGS and online.

enVerid’s HLR technology is the only solution on the market that intelligently and safely reduces required outside air ventilation in commercial buildings, providing 20 to 40 percent annual energy savings, peak savings above 40 percent, and immediate payback in new construction and HVAC renovations. Further, the system improves indoor air quality, which studies have directly linked to higher productivity and better health for building occupants.

The entire volume of indoor air in commercial buildings is typically replaced with outside air every one to two hours to dilute indoor molecular contaminants such as carbon dioxide (CO2), aldehydes and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This massive flow of outside air adds 30 to 50 percent more load on HVAC systems, resulting in higher first cost (CAPEX) on HVAC systems and higher ongoing energy costs (OPEX). The HLR module removes all of these contaminants from the indoor air, enabling a 60 to 80 percent reduction in required outside air intake. As a result, buildings can invest in lower-capacity and less expensive HVAC systems, benefit from decreased maintenance costs and water consumption, take advantage of local utility rebates, and earn significant LEED points.

In addition to reducing indoor air contaminants, the HLR system also reduces the intake of polluted air for buildings near highways and city traffic, airports and railways. Studies show that living near highways significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, so minimizing these contaminants in commercial buildings is critical to occupant health.
