BREA, CALIF.—The Embassy Suites by Hilton’s Southern California hotels are joining forces with Stop Hunger Now in the fight against hunger. Recently, more than 50 Embassy Suites employees convened at the Embassy Suites Brea—North Orange County hotel to prepare and package meals to help feed the world’s hungry. Stop Hunger Now is a volunteer-based program that coordinates streamlined meal packaging events to provide highly nutritious, dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables and 22 essential vitamins and minerals.

Director of Sales Lisa Kotlar says, “Embassy Suites by Hilton Southern California hotels are excited to partner with Stop Hunger Now and package meals for the world’s hungry. It is a great opportunity not only for our company but for our employees to come together as a community to help others in need. It gives us the privilege to make a difference in so many people’s lives.”

Around the world, nearly 805 million people lack adequate food. Stop Hunger Now operates meal packaging locations in 19 cities throughout the United States and in four international locations in South Africa, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Italy. More than 450,000 volunteers from corporations, churches, schools and civic organizations have packaged Stop Hunger Now meals.

Organization Has Assisted Thousands

Founded in 1998, Stop Hunger Now has delivered aid and disaster relief supplies in the form of food, medical supplies, clothing, school supplies, and more to thousands of disaster victims and other hungry and vulnerable people in 65 countries.

“What we want everyone to know is that hunger is solvable and is the common thread among the world’s most challenging issues,” said Rod Brooks, President and CEO of Stop Hunger Now. “When hunger is targeted, you give leverage and hope to every other cause including poverty, disease, education and the welfare of women and children.”

Additionally the Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim-North, Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim-Orange, Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim-South, Embassy Suites by Hilton Arcadia, Embassy Suites by Hilton Irvine, Embassy Suites by Hilton La Quinta, Embassy Suites by Hilton Lompoc, Embassy Suites by Hilton Los Angeles/Downey, Embassy Suites by Hilton Los Angeles International Airport-North, Embassy Suites by Hilton Ontario, Embassy Suites by Hilton Santa Ana, Embassy Suites by Hilton San Luis Obispo, and Embassy Suites by Hilton Temecula Valley collected canned food during October to donate to local families in need.

“Our goal was to fill ten 50 pound boxes of food to donate to the local 2nd Harvest Food Bank for distribution locally, which we achieved,” Kotlar said.
