DALTON, GA.—Tandus Centiva, a Tarkett Co., announced that its ethos products, ethos modular and Powerbond ethos cushion have completed an Environmental Health Statement (EHS).

An EHS is a third-party reviewed declaration of content and material assessment for building products. The material assessment and review of content was performed by the Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency (EPEA) International, the scientific institute founded by Dr. Michael Braungart. The EHS is designed to thoroughly address ingredient disclosure, possible human and environmental health impacts as well as post-use considerations. The EHS discloses, within a rating system, whether or not an ingredient may pose a potential risk to manufacturing workers or users of the product or the environment. The EHS rating system is easy to understand and consistent with the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) material assessment that is widely accepted in the building and design industry. C2C is the basis for creating a beneficial footprint.

ethos is a backing option for both Modular and Powerbond product platforms. It is 100 percent recyclable and is NSF-140 Platinum certified. ethos is made from recycled PVB, which is an abundantly available waste film from postconsumer windshields and safety glass.

Erin Istanbulluoglu, Director of Environmental & Social Stewardship states, “Tandus Centiva is committed to materials and systems innovation, which led us to ethos. We are focused on creating products that are healthy for people and the environment, and the EHS allows us to communicate that in a way that is fully transparent and easy for users to read and understand.”

ethos is the first product in the Tandus Centiva line to complete an Environmental and Health Statement. Other products will follow in the coming months.
