ORLANDO, FLA.—The NAFEM Show (North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers), scheduled for February 7 to 9 in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center, will feature more than 500 exhibitors, many of whom will display the latest in energy-efficient foodservice equipment. More than 125 companies will participate in the WHAT’S HOT! WHAT’S COOL! new product gallery. This gallery will showcase new products offering benefits such as labor savings, sanitation, green benefits, food safety, reduced life cycle costs and more.

New to the show this year is an educational session entitled, “LEED Basics for Foodservice.” The session will be held on February 6 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Orange County Convention Center. The fee to attend is $200 per person. The following is the session’s description: “Want to know how to make your restaurant green and mean it? Learn about the unique challenges of implementing green building practices to restaurant and hospitality spaces. This half-day workshop provides an overview of the LEED for Retail Rating System but focuses on those credits that are unique to restaurants and foodservice, key credit intents and requirements, and the similarities and differences of this rating system to both LEED for New Construction and LEED for Commercial Interiors. Attend this session and you will be able to understand LEED and how it works in foodservice.”

The instructor for the course is Rob Hink, LEED AP BD+C/O&M. He is principal/senior vice president with The Spinnaker Group, a company that provides design, LEED consulting, commissioning, and energy and daylight modeling services. With more than 160 LEED projects, The Spinnaker Group is one of the Gulf Coast region’s leaders in green building design and operations. Hink is a past president and current board member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) South Florida Chapter. Rob is a USGBC faculty member.

Registration, which may be purchased when registering for the show, includes course materials, instruction and mid-afternoon refreshments.
