OSHKOSH, WIS.—Continental Girbau Inc. recently released the Compact 5-in-One Ironing System. A space-saving ironer/folder, the Compact processes up to 82 feet of linen per minute and works seamlessly with an optional feeder, stacker and small-piece accumulator to quickly accomplish feeding, ironing, folding, stacking and accumulating.
Continental and OnePress models are available in 24- and 32-inch diameters; 130-inch finishing widths; and natural gas or liquid propane heat sources. Girbau Industrial (GI) models are available in 24-, 32- and 48-inch diameters; 102- and 130-inch finishing widths; and natural gas or liquid propane heat sources.
All models offer high-volume linen handling to laundries that require quality results from a compact machine with a small footprint. The Compact 5-in-One Ironing System supports linen handling and ironing needs for facilities that can’t accommodate traditional ironing/folding systems.

Optional, Vacuum-Assisted Feeding Table
Featuring an optional, vacuum-assisted feeding table that aids linen feeding, quality and speed, the Compact 5-in-One offers one, two or four working lanes, with one lane for sheets, two for table linens and four for small items, including napkins and pillow cases. Folds are performed using air jets, reversing conveyors and knife blade assistance. A simple push of a button by the operator automatically rejects stained or torn items, and a wide, inclined feeding table provides the operator a better view of items while feeding. When the optional folder and stacker are teamed with the Compact, it feeds, irons, folds and stacks while maintaining speeds up to 82 feet per minute. All of this requires just one operator, according to Jorgensen.
“The Compact 5-in-One fits a production niche that Continental could not answer in the past, and provides another all-in-one option to laundries requiring automated, quality ironing within a small space,” said Jorgensen. “Its unique, all-in-one design allows us to bring automation to small spaces and complements Continental large-capacity washers.”
Equipped with an intuitive control offering 20 pre-set and 20 customizable programs, the Compact provides touch-screen control over ironing parameters, faults, alarms or alterations in processing and diagnostics.
A highly efficient machine, the Compact 5-in-One maintains three-roll temperature zones within the roll, always ensuring roll temperature is properly regulated for consistent heat and improved efficiency. These modulating heat zones deliver up to a 30 percent energy savings.
Other perks include a bypass option allowing goods to exit the front or rear of the machine; left or right stacker orientation; processing speeds reaching up to 82 feet per minute; and a self-cleaning exhaust fan.
