SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIF.    —ClearWater Tech, LLC (CWT), provider of EcoTex O3 ozone cold water laundering systems, has added two new videos to the Service and Maintenance playlist on YouTube: “Changing the Inline Particulate Filter” and “UV Ozone Lamp Replacement.”

“No other ozone provider comes close to matching our YouTube Library,” asserts Marc DeBrum, CWT assistant sales manager and applications engineer. “Three years ago we launched the library as a way to give customers and prospects convenient access to ClearWater products along with service information. Our collection now includes 24 videos in three playlists: EcoTex O3 Laundry Systems, the Service and Maintenance series, and a composite playlist that also covers ozone in general (what it is, how it works), Pool & Spa and other offerings.”

DeBrum attributes the popularity of the YouTube servicing series to several factors.  While major cost savings with EcoTex O3 systems (an average of up to 85 percent for gas used to heat water, 30 percent for electrical energy and 35 percent less in water usage) are the main reasons why most organizations switch to ozone cold water laundering, EcoTex serviceability has significant additional advantages versus other manufacturer’s systems.

Videos Help Users Perform Service Tasks

“Simplicity is a hallmark of our technology, including service requirements,” DeBrum says. “Most items demonstrated in our videos need attention only once a year. Distributor service people who mainly access our YouTube Library offerings deal with a wide variety of laundry room equipment every day. When they get to EcoTex systems, in seconds they can see a hands-on reminder-tutorial for the components in front of them.  The videos help end users perform service tasks, too.”

“Changing the Inline Particulate Filter,” for example—the filter used for all EcoTex corona discharge-type systems that have internal air dryers—shows the task being completed in about 90 seconds. A screwdriver, wrench and pliers are the only tools needed. Although this is not a difficult job, DeBrum contends that “a brief video review helps speed things up and ensures that it’s done right.”

Installing a new lamp in one of the CWT UV-style systems (“UV Ozone Lamp Replacement”) likewise is quick and easy. The video walks users through the process in less than two minutes.

Some tasks are more complex and take longer but each video clearly shows “how to,” step by step. For example, the longest video in the Service and Maintenance playlist, “SeQal Oxygen Concentrator Compressor,” is also accessed more than any other. It demonstrates proper procedure for rebuilding the concentrator that strips out nitrogen and moisture from ambient air in order to feed purer oxygen to the ozone generator, which, in turn, delivers higher quality ozone. And it’s much faster for service people to get up-to-speed watching the YouTube video than any other way.

Emphasis on Serviceable Parts

“This rebuild reveals another plus with our systems compared to other makes,” emphasizes DeBrum. “While competitive units have some serviceable parts, many components are sealed and need to be replaced.  This can lead to downtime waiting for the replacement and, regardless, is a costlier proposition.”

He points out that, as with the oxygen concentrator, critical smaller components in reaction chambers for EcoTex corona discharge systems are serviceable. These, too, are annual maintenance procedures that can be scheduled, completed in a couple of hours or less, and give the user a like-new system for far less money than replacing the entire component.

“Simpler, faster, easier servicing is all part of our design,” DeBrum said. “It saves users money, year after year. All ozone systems, like any other piece of equipment, need preventative maintenance to be performed. We want to be sure that our dealers and distributors know how to properly maintain our systems. With these videos, they have the confidence to provide customers with equipment that will perform to expectations for years to come.”
