GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.—The LEED Gold certified CityFlatsHotel is once again expanding in downtown Grand Rapids, adding additional event space and a blow dry bar into their offerings for current and future guests. CityFlatsHotel opened its second location in what was once the legendary Fox Jewelers building in 2011. The Grand Rapids location expanded into the neighboring Hinman Building with opening of the Ballroom @ CityFlatsHotel in the fall of 2012. Events @ CityFlatsHotel will inhabit 77 Monroe Center St NW in what was once Louis Benton Steakhouse, which closed its doors in January after about 14 years of operation. The new space, when combined with the Ballroom @ CityFlatsHotel, will provide four areas available for weddings, special events, corporate functions, and everything in-between.
CityFlatsHotel will also offer blowouts and salon services to those working, living, and visiting the downtown area. Ballroom Manager Katie Vogelheim says she is, “Thrilled about the two upcoming additions. I fell in love with the blow dry bar concept a few years ago and am excited to have the service available for guests. Being so centrally located downtown will make it easy for anyone to stop in and enjoy our services. The additional event space located just downstairs is the perfect space to host holiday parties, corporate meetings, wedding receptions, and so much more.”
Charter House Innovations, the parent company of CityFlatsHotel, is set to begin renovations immediately. The expansion is slated to be finished in the summer of 2015.
The CityFlatsHotels in Holland and Grand Rapids are locally owned, boutique hotels. CityFlatsHotel-Holland is the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certified hotel in the Midwest and CityFlatsHotel-Grand Rapids has also achieved LEED Gold certification through the U.S. Green Building Council. Future CityFlatsHotel properties will reflect the design and aesthetic of the flagship location in Holland and will be designed to achieve LEED certification.
