IRVINE, CALIF.—Cerno’s line of modern LED light fixtures continues to evolve: the California based design and manufacturing company has introduced several new products designed specifically for the hospitality market. Cerno will be exhibiting at BD West, California’s largest hospitality design show, on March 20 to 21 at the San Diego Convention Center (booth 647).

Co-Founder and Director of Sales and Marketing Bret Englander spoke to the importance of listening to the customer in order to understand the intended application of each new product. “A lot of design feels like the creator is shooting from the hip and trying to hit an unknown target,” said Englander. “We strive to design with purpose, to assure that the functionality of the fixture satisfies the rigors and demands of the end-user.”

Hospitality designers require products to be robust and intuitive. Cerno recently introduced a bedside reading light that can be mounted on a wall or headboard and was specifically engineered for hotel suites. According to Co-Founder and Director of Engineering Daniel Wacholder, the Libri epitomizes a “less is more” design philosophy. “With the Libri we stripped away everything that was not absolutely essential to the performance of this light,” said Wacholder. “Any fixture that appears to be simple is typically complex, which is what made this light an exciting and challenging engineering project.”

Co-Founder and Director of Design at Cerno Nick Sheridan addressed what differentiates Cerno from other design firms. “We are a vertically integrated company, which allows our designers and engineers to work side by side while conceiving and developing new products,” said Sheridan. “This intimacy with every step of the production process is what allows our lights to be realized without compromise.”
