In Search of Renewable Energy All Stars

by Glenn Hasek March 29, 2011 04:15

Green Lodging News is compiling a list of lodging establishments that have incorporated renewable energy technologies into their properties. Green Lodging News will publish the list soon via a home page link entitled, "Renewable Energy All Stars." The link will also appear in the Green Lodging News weekly e-newsletter. If your property has a wind turbine, solar panels (for the generation of electricity or heating of hot water), geothermal or hydroelectric power system, be sure to contact me at editor@greenlodgingnews.com. Be sure to provide a link to your website and describe the size of the system installed at your property. By compiling this list, Green Lodging News hopes to create a source of contacts for developers considering renewable energy systems.

As the lodging industry strengthens its commitment to renewables, it will reduce its overall environmental impact and help reduce society's dependence on non-renewable, dirty sources of energy. Green Lodging News is already filled with stories detailing solar, wind, geothermal and hydroelectric installations. Be sure to read those articles. It is time for every lodging owner and developer to take a closer look at renewable energy technologies. They are much more affordable than they once were, especially with the creative financing now offered by suppliers. Tax incentives and rebates also can help.

I am looking forward to the day when a solar, wind or geothermal installation is as common as a compact fluorescent. You can help make this happen. I will look forward to hearing from you.
