TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS—Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa has been awarded eco-burner’s very first Carbon Savings Certificate. Beaches Turks and Caicos are the first recipient of this carbon saving award for their dedication to saving the environment and making a difference for future generations. The resort, located on the islands of Turk and Caicos, has been using eco-burner for the last two years, changing from traditional chemical chafing fuel methods to eco-burner’s safer, cleaner and greener solution. In this time they have made the colossal saving of 79 tons of carbon emissions saving the same amount of carbon emissions as created by running 128 lightbulbs for 60 days a piece, driving 17 typical passenger cars for an entire year or 205 homes recycling all of their aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic, cardboard and newspapers for a year.

Colin Watson, Executive Chef, was quick to praise the resort’s dedication to making an effort to be more environmentally aware saying they were “committed to the community, the environment and improving the guest experience wherever they can.” He continued, “It is great to give back to the environment and to save on emissions.” This immense saving is a testament to the hard work and dedication shown by all of Beaches Turks and Caicos’ staff to make the resort a more environmentally friendly destination. Watson says he would “100 percent recommend eco-burner” to other hotels and resorts looking to make the move to a cleaner and greener way of operating.

Ciaran Doyle, CCO of eco-burner celebrated Beaches Turks and Caicos’ continued savings, commenting that eco-burner’s “whole Caribbean business started from here when Sandals was brave enough to take on this new environmentally friendly alternative to chafing fuel.” This step into the unknown has paid off many fold with eco-burner having been rolled out across the entire Sandals’ Beaches product line Caribbean wide. Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa’s savings highlight that a small change to the operation can be of significant benefit to the environment.

Established in 2004, eco-burner Ltd. has revolutionized the chafing fuel industry by offering the ultimate solution to traditional gel and wick heat sources; the refillable Chafo. Safer, cleaner and greener than its alternatives, the Chafo is innovative and a game changer in the catering industry. The company is headquartered in Waterford, Ireland which is the manufacturing and sales hub supplying customers on a global scale. Eco-burner is now present in over 35 territories and is continuously growing.
