DEARBORN, MICH.—In their second collaboration with Lauretano Sign Group, Adoba Hotel Dearborn is taking their sustainable journey to new heights. Dearborn’s skyline will now feature a new green hue, thanks to a sustainable sign that’s breaking ground in the world of outdoor illumination.

The Adoba Dearborn/Detroit location across the street from the Ford World Headquarters is taking every sustainable element into consideration, Lauretano Sign Group has created a landmark exterior sign package with several green features. For instance, the sign is illuminated by GE LED systems that contain no mercury, lead, or glass. Energy savings will amount to 90 percent compared with neon and fluorescent lighting. In addition, LED lights last up to 50,000 hours, or 17 years when lit for eight hours each day.

Fabrication of the sign was done with aluminum sheets that contain 85 percent recycled content. One component is Cyro acrylic sheets. Matthews MAP-LV coatings contain VOC levels that are at or below the requirements of the U.S. Green Building Council.

‘Pioneer of Eco-friendly Hotels’

“We are extremely excited to be part of the expansion of this energy-efficient, sustainable hotel concept,” said Mike Lauretano, senior chairman of Lauretano Sign Group. “Lauretano works with corporate and hotel clients all across North America but none have been more committed and true to the advancement of the eco-friendly products and practices than Adoba. They don’t just talk the talk…Adoba is the true pioneer of eco-friendly hotels.”

By utilizing the highest-quality supplies from local vendors as well as round trip full-load transportation, Adoba Hotel Dearborn/Detroit has been able to reduce their carbon footprint and conserve valuable resources. Complete sign packaging was custom-designed to use fewer materials and trees, while maintaining secure transport.

“Our marketing VP has been working on the new sign package for about six months,” said James Henderson, CEO/President of the Adoba Brand. “We have been imagining the vision of the sign, but when you finally see it turned on, it’s very dramatic. It is generating a lot of oohs and aahs in the community. Not just for its eye-catching color or for all the sustainable aspects of the sign but for the steps forward it represents in enhancing and preserving such an iconic hotel in the state of Michigan. The Lauretano Sign Group really expressed our vision with the design and all the elements of sustainability we envisioned the sign project to stand for.”
