PHILADELPHIA—SRS Energy, a leading developer of sustainable solar roofing products, has been awarded $2,805,000 in grant and loan money from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to support the production of its Solé Power Tile system, the first solar roofing tile designed to seamlessly integrate with curved clay tile roofs.

“These funds will enable SRS Energy to expand its business by opening a manufacturing plant that will put Pennsylvanians to work producing the Solé Power Tile,” said Marty Low, CEO of SRS Energy. “We are delighted at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s commitment to invest in clean, sustainable technologies that will benefit both the environment and the economy.”

On June 30, 2009, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development awarded SRS Energy a Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund (MELF) loan for $2,375,000 to support the purchase of equipment for a manufacturing plant that the company will open in eastern Pennsylvania, in a location to be announced shortly. On July 14, 2009, the Commonwealth Financing Authority approved a $430,000 grant, also to be used for purchasing manufacturing equipment. The plant’s first line is scheduled to be fully operational by the second quarter of 2010, and will employ 30 to 40 people, with additional lines to open at later dates.

The Solé Power Tile system is designed to seamlessly blend with several styles of US Tile’s clay roofing tiles, providing sustainable energy while preserving curb appeal. The product employs cutting-edge thin film solar technology, valued for its ability to convert a greater spectrum of light into electricity, as well as its relative insensitivity to heat when compared to other solar technologies.

SRS Energy and US Tile are currently launching the Solé Power Tile system in select West Coast markets, and will begin a nationwide rollout of the product in spring of 2010. For more information, visit www.srsenergy.com.
