ATLANTA—Onity announces the launch of Wireless innPULSE, an innovative new radio-frequency (RF) network that wirelessly connects SensorStat guestroom thermostats to Onity’s innPULSE energy management software. This enables hotel properties to network Onity’s proprietary in-room SensorStat products together to form a comprehensive energy management system (EMS) without the need for hardwiring from each guestroom thermostat. Since their introduction in 2003, Onity’s Wireless SensorStat EMS products have been successfully installed in thousands of guestrooms at properties around the world. Onity, one of the world’s leading providers of electronic locking solutions, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

Onity’s new Wireless innPULSE network enables properties of all sizes to economically reap the benefits of their innPULSE software, and is available to both existing and future users of the SensorStat DDC and Wireless DDC thermostat. Onity’s wireless technology ensures consistent SensorStat/innPULSE communications without interrupting other in-house RF devices or Wi-Fi services.

Onity’s Wireless innPULSE software provides increased operational efficiency and a host of convenient features, including:

• Remote monitoring of rooms and devices;

• Centralized visibility and control of the property-wide SensorStat EMS;

• HVAC system performance monitoring;

• Data logging;

• HVAC systems performance alarms;

• Preventive maintenance alerts;

• HVAC system problem notification by e-mail/pager/SMS text;

• Visibility of guestroom status, including occupied/unoccupied, temperature, humidity, heating/cooling mode, fan operation; and

• The ability to program or reprogram SensorStats without the need to visit rooms or disturb guests.

Interfacing Wireless innPULSE with the property management system (PMS) is optional, and could result in up to an additional 10 percent reduction in HVAC runtime and associated energy cost savings. This occurs when the PMS communicates that a room is “UNSOLD,” allowing innPULSE and SensorStat to set the temperature back to a property-defined, energy-saving level. As rooms are sold, the system resets the temperature to accommodate guest comfort by preheating or cooling the room before their arrival.

“With Onity’s SensorStat products and Wireless innPULSE system, property managers and engineering departments not only realize significant savings of both time and costs for installation, retrofitting and upkeep of the system, but can now have multiple interaction points with the system to maximize ongoing savings,” stated Frank Dyer, director of product marketing for Onity. “While integration between the EMS and the HVAC systems, locking systems, and electronic device systems is imperative, tying it wirelessly to the property management system for real-time monitoring of individual rooms creates a more in-depth and focused view for potential energy saving opportunities.”

Wireless innPULSE is ideal for multi-unit owners, management companies and smaller properties with limited maintenance/engineering staff, since it is now possible to securely access innPULSE over the Web from any secure Internet connection, in order to view, change, and monitor the SensorStat EMS and all innPULSE features. Since no hardwired network cabling is required from guestroom/SensorStat devices to the innPULSE server, the system saves both time for onsite staff and drastically reduces installation costs—making a full EMS affordable for properties of any size.
