Hotel restaurant grease interceptors and grease traps are county or city mandated receptacles to contain the food waste liquids from kitchen drains, in particular problematic F.O.G. (fats, oils, grease). Although covered and periodically vacuum pumped by grease hauling companies, occasionally foul odors disturb staff and customers and unexpected overflows may occur. Local authorities across the United States charge hefty fines for overflows, since this grease trap wastewater, if untreated, contains potentially harmful anaerobic organisms such as salmonella, as well as methane and hydrogen sulfide gases. The Hydrologix GRS’s innovative aerobic treatment system hosts a proprietary blend of food grade microorganisms that multiply rapidly to continuously digest all potentially harmful matter.
