CARLSBAD, CALIF.—When Hassan Ghamlouch heard that lotus turned ordinary tap water into a chemical-free cleaner that is faster and stronger than chlorine bleach, he found it hard to believe—until he actually saw what it could do. “I was reluctant at first, but an easy convert after the astonishing results,” said Ghamlouch, director of housing at the University of California at Riverside.

The lotus Chemical-free Cleaning System uses standard 110 volt power to turn tap water into liquefied ozone—a powerful natural cleaner. “Our chemical-free system is greener, cleaner, and costs less,” said Davis Gravelsins, vice president of marketing with Tersano Inc. “It’s ideal for large facilities with high volumes of people traffic like college dorms, office buildings, and hotels.”

“We were impressed with the product and like the idea of not exposing our students and staff to harsh chemicals,” said Ghamlouch, who is also chairperson of the University’s Sustainability Committee.

No Toxic Fumes, Residues

It is now widely regarded that most conventional commercial and household cleaning products are hazardous to humans and the environment as a whole. With the lotus Chemical-free Cleaning System, the liquefied ozone produced by the device cleans, kills harmful bacteria and viruses, and then reverts back to water and oxygen—without toxic fumes or residues.

With many companies and organizations looking to minimize their carbon footprint, lotus offers an on-demand cleaning system that eliminates the need for packaging, storing, transporting, or recycling of what was once purchased.

“The lotus PRO is helping the University of California at Riverside reach its sustainability goal and minimize its carbon footprint,” Ghamlouch said.

While helping with carbon footprint reduction at the University, lotus is also a cost reducer. “It is equally important that it also reduces our cleaning supplies cost,” Ghamlouch said.

Significantly Lower in Cost

As well as being chemical-free and environmentally friendly, the lotus cleaning system is lower in cost by typically 30 percent or more when compared to chemical-based and green cleaners.

Before deciding on lotus, staff cleaners at the University of Montana evaluated the product on several surfaces throughout the school in carefully performed testing.

“lotus PRO cleans as well as, if not better than all of the products it has replaced,” one member of the campus cleaning staff noted. “The lotus PRO cleaning system is not only an effective cleaner, but simplifies the process because you can clean all types of surfaces with one cleaner. The product definitely saved us time; I was able to spray down entire restrooms with one product, fast and easy.”
