RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIF.—LG Electronics USA announced the grand opening of the LG Training Academy in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., to support the company’s expanding commercial air-conditioning business in the United States. As a growing participant in the climate control industry, this second U.S. training facility for LG Electronics Commercial Air Conditioning illustrates a burgeoning U.S. HVAC business. The first was opened a year ago just outside of Atlanta.

Opened specifically with LG’s West Coast customer base in mind, this academy has the capability of training hundreds of engineers, contractors and technicians annually. The training academy will educate a diverse audience on LG’s advanced applied commercial products, duct-free and energy-efficient solutions and others that can broaden a contractor’s portfolio.

Of the 7,000-square-foot facility, 4,500 feet will be dedicated to LG’s Commercial Air Conditioning division and will provide focused training rooms for education on LG’s residential, light commercial and applied commercial products as well as office space for trainers and sales managers. LG plans to expand its educational programs and feature both one- and two-day sessions. Students also will have the option of participating in shorter half-day courses, or more intensive five-day training sessions.

“With California’s key role in energy efficiency ‘green’ initiatives, LG’s investment in a local training facility illustrates our commitment to the diverse needs of our customers and leads the way in the U.S. HVAC business,” said Kelly Cutchins, vice president, Commercial Air Conditioning, LG Electronics USA. “As our commercial AC business continues to expand, this facility will be crucial to providing our key partners and engineers with the educational tools necessary for successful installations.”

Energy-Efficient Climate Control

Known for its advanced duct-free systems, LG’s commercial AC products provide cost-effective and energy efficient climate control solutions. LG has worked extensively with partners that are approved by the California Energy Commission to support customer needs based on the latest HVAC energy requirements and regulations.

This year, with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s stimulus package tax rebate incentives for the installation of high energy efficiency products, LG has further upgraded products to qualify and to help assure that future products have high Energy Efficiency Ratings. For example, LG’s Multi-V Applied Commercial Products and the Duct-Free Mini Split provide cost-effective, energy-efficient options for homeowners and commercial buildings alike.

LG has also developed new technology for its variable refrigerant flow (VRF) product offerings in which an inverter duty compressor is coupled with a constant speed compressor in the condensing unit offerings. The load tracking is precise and efficient. “The results we’re seeing with this new technology are extremely attractive especially in applications that require simultaneous heating and cooling,” Cutchins added.
