I am excited to announce that Green Lodging News has started a blog on its website. For those of you not familiar with blogs, they are simple websites that give one the capability to post news, comments, video, etc. Blogs are interactive. At the end of each blog posting, there is a “comments” link that allows one to post a response. There are numerous ways to link to the Green Lodging News Blog. On the website home page there are three links. The first one is located in the upper left area under “departments.” The second link is below the blocks of text that appear below my photo on the home page. You can also link to the blog by clicking on the promotional ad located in the lower right area of the website.
In addition to accessing the blog through the website, the Green Lodging News newsletter also has a link under “departments.” Better yet, add the following Web address to your “Favorites” list in your Web browser: http://greenlodgingnews.blogspot.com/.
What can you expect to find in the Green Lodging News Blog? Since launching Green Lodging News, the volume of environment-related industry news has grown significantly. The News Blog will give us the opportunity to quickly post breaking news snippets—summaries of stories that otherwise would not appear on Green Lodging News. These abbreviated news items will highlight green hotel developments, interesting new products, and include photos and links related to those items. The News Blog will also include analysis of trends, surveys, as well as satire and humor. Yes, believe it or not, green lodging does have its hilarious moments.
Ways You Can Participate
What can you do to make the Green Lodging News Blog as successful as possible? Here are just a few ideas:
• Visit the site as often as possible. It will be updated frequently each week.
• Add your comments when you are inspired to do so. You may feel passionate about something that was written or have a suggestion to offer to help or improve a product or project.
• Continue and/or begin to send Green Lodging News press releases for consideration for the website and News Blog.
• If you have a question you would like to pose to Green Lodging News readers, send it as a blog comment or directly to editor@greenlodgingnews.com. It will be posted as a blog entry. Green Lodging News website readership has been averaging close to 30,000 total visitors a month. There are a lot of experts in our industry who are well qualified to answer questions and offer advice.
• Link to the blog from your own blog or website and tell your colleagues about it.
Without your participation in the blog, it will not be a success. Its potential to create an online community and help move our industry toward a sustainable future is great. I will look forward to hearing from you through the Green Lodging News Blog!
