GLEN RAVEN, N.C.—Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, LLC has created a recycling program for Sunbrella fabrics, the company’s brand for awnings, furniture and boating. Sunbrella fabrics returned to Glen Raven will find new life in a variety of products ranging from felt used for car insulation and protective padding for sports equipment to decorative applications such as outdoor rugs.

“For more than 20 years, Glen Raven has reclaimed Sunbrella fiber and fabric waste resulting from the manufacturing process, but this is the first time we have offered recycling to our customers and consumers,” said Randy Blackston, vice president of operations. “This program is part of our decades-long commitment to environmental stewardship.”

The new program, “Recycle My Sunbrella,” operates through a new website—www.recyclemysunbrella.com. Anyone interested in submitting Sunbrella fabrics for recycling should visit the site for additional details on the return process.

“Sunbrella fabric has a service life far surpassing conventional fabrics, and we want to extend that life even further by ensuring it has a home outside the landfill,” Blackston said. “We will accept any pre-consumer and post-consumer Sunbrella fabrics including awning covers, boat covers and upholstery.”

Glen Raven will also recycle packaging materials, such as cardboard boxes or pallets. Glen Raven is funding all administrative and processing costs associated with the recycling program; the only cost to Glen Raven customers or consumers is shipping to the recycling center in Anderson, S.C.
