LOS ANGELES—This spring, Los Angeles will have an artful new sanctuary to showcase Southern California’s eclectic cultural landscape. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, the leading boutique hotel company, is preparing for the debut of its latest project, Hotel Palomar Los Angeles. Located in Los Angeles’ upscale Westwood neighborhood, adjacent to Beverly Hills at 10740 Wilshire Blvd., the sophisticated boutique hotel will boast an art theme, environmentally-friendly focus, 268 guestrooms and sweeping city views.

The Hotel Palomar brings Kimpton’s award-winning environmentally responsible practices to Los Angeles. Beyond paying lip-service to the green trend, Kimpton sees its eco-friendly efforts as integral to its very existence. Hotel Palomar Los Angeles incorporates more than 40 eco-friendly practices into its daily operations. Among them are in-room recycling bins; energy-efficient lighting; water-efficient fixtures; toiletries made from natural ingredients by earth-friendly manufacturers; organic food and beverage options in its mini-bars; and a restaurant that follows the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch’s sustainable seafood guidelines.

In recognition of these and other efforts, the California Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded Kimpton its most prestigious ecological honor, the Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award, which goes to businesses that focus on preserving the state’s resources. EarthCare, Kimpton’s company-wide environmentally friendly program, includes protocols that preserve water, energy, land and air without sacrificing service, style or comfort.

“The Hotel Palomar carries the Kimpton promise to provide the highest levels of comfort and customer care in a way that also preserves planetary resources,” said Barbara Piagari, director of sales and marketing at the Hotel Palomar Los Angeles. “We do this because we believe it’s the right thing to do. Simultaneously, we find that our guests who share this core value feel really good about doing business with Kimpton. The Hotel Palomar is excited to be a partner for travelers to L.A. in the plight toward a sustainable world.”

A Nod to L.A.’s Screen Heritage

Hotel Palomar pays homage to art, architecture, fashion, dance and literature. Seeking to make each guest’s stay a masterpiece, Hotel Palomar is focused on sensual décor, thoughtful amenities and exemplary service. Los Angeles’ sparkling film and art landscape, with an emphasis on the city’s glamorous silver screen heritage and the latest cutting-edge technology, will play a leading role in Hotel Palomar Los Angeles’ “Art in Motion” story.

Designed in collaboration with Beverly Hills interior designer Cheryl Rowley, the 19-story Hotel Palomar welcomes guests with an ambiance ideal for an A-list clientele. Dramatic, luxurious details mingle with a crisp, modern aesthetic. Shocks of ice blue and lipstick red throughout are reminiscent of the seductive hues favored by starlets from Marilyn Monroe and Greta Garbo to Scarlett Johansson. The effect is pure Hollywood.

Rowley has designed five Palomar hotels for Kimpton, including the Hotel Palomar Dallas, Hotel Palomar Dupont Circle in Washington D.C., Hotel Palomar San Francisco and the Hotel Palomar Waterview in Arlington, Va.

“At Kimpton, each one of our 42 hotels tells a different story and ours is unique to Los Angeles,” said John Douponce, general manager of the Hotel Palomar Los Angeles. “‘Art in Motion’ reflects L.A.’s vibrant energy and thriving art scene—all the things that make the city so alluring. ‘Art in Motion’ gives us limitless ways to create fun and artful experiences for our guests and clients, and combined with our unprecedented level of service and customer care, the Hotel Palomar will truly be a masterpiece.”
