LAS VEGAS—Las Vegas Sands has been named as one of Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies. The annual list is a ranking of the world’s most respected and reputable companies, as judged by peers in their industry.

“Being recognized as one of the world’s most admired companies is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the more than 50,000 Las Vegas Sands team members we employ around the globe,” said Sheldon G. Adelson, chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands. “As the founder of this company, nothing makes me prouder than to see our company receive such a notable distinction.”

Las Vegas Sands is the world’s largest developer and operator of integrated resorts serving both the business and leisure tourism markets. The company’s portfolio consists of world-class destination resorts and three of the world’s largest convention centers, encompassing more than 22,000 hotel suites, more than 5.6 million square feet of meeting and convention space, and more than 7.5 million feet of retail and gaming space.

Emphasis on CSR Initiatives

“As the global leader in integrated resorts, we are both a market maker and a committed corporate citizen in the regions where we operate,” said Rob Goldstein, President and COO of Las Vegas Sands. “We strive to set a bar for excellence in our resorts; in the hospitality industry as a whole; and in our commitment to people, communities and the planet through our corporate social responsibility initiatives.”

Methodology Fortune collaborated with their partner Korn Ferry Hay Group on this survey of corporate reputations. They began with a universe of about 1,500 candidates: the 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue, along with non-U.S. companies in Fortune’s Global 500 database that have revenues of $10 billion or more. They then winnowed the assortment to the highest-revenue companies in each industry, a total of 680 in 28 countries. The top-rated companies were picked from that pool of 680; the executives who voted work at the companies in that group.

To determine the best-regarded companies in 51 industries, Korn Ferry Hay Group asked executives, directors, and analysts to rate enterprises in their own industry on nine criteria, from investment value and quality of management and products to social responsibility and ability to attract talent. A company’s score must rank in the top half of its industry survey to be listed.
